Hello Hammerheads!

We have been diligently working with our July 4th host to make accommodations due to the extreme heat. We want everyone to have fun and be safe! Please read to the end so you know the actions we're taking and find some recommendations for your family.

MEET DETAILS (times have changed!)

• Arrive by 7:45am! We have moved up the schedule due to the heat.
• Warm Ups are 8:00 - 8:20am
• Meet Start time is now 8:30am.
• Location: Coppermine Four Seasons Club at 2710 Hampstead-Mexico Road, Hampstead, MD 21074
• Parking: in the main parking lot and then walk down the driveway to the left of the building. For any handicap accessible parking needs, there are spaces down closer to the pool. (map attached)
• Extreme Heat Accommodations:
  • Tents will be set up on the pool deck to provide shade for volunteers and athletes
  • Cooling stations will be set up with cool water and cooling towels for volunteers
  • Plenty of water will be available for volunteers
  • A portion of their rec pool and/or an opportunity for everyone to jump in the pool will be provided - so wear bathing suits or clothing that can get wet
  • More events will be combined to help expedite the meet.
• Recommendations for HHSC Families:
  • Hydrate NOW - small amounts of water and electrolyte beverages over time is better for hydration. Drinking large amounts at a time or when you're already thirsty is ineffective.
  • Have your athletes sit in shade, hydrate, and cool down after events
  • Bring cool and high-water content snacks like cucumbers, watermelon, and oranges.
  • Bring extra towels or a sheet to hang from your tent to create a "curtain" from the sun
  • Bring Pop Up Tents and battery powered fans if you have them
  • Apply sunscreen before leaving your home and bring some to reapply
  • Bring wide brimmed hats and wear light, breathable clothing
• Spectator Area: we will be located in the space between the building and the rec pool. There is a small canopy in that area, and we can set up our personal pop-up tents as well.
• Concessions: Menu is attached. They accept cash and credit.
