Hello Hammerheads!

This past week many swimmers attended the Andover Invitational Meet and we couldn’t be prouder of their performance! We are nearing the end of our swim season but it’s still full with practices, meets, and events! Between competing swim meets, family travel, and unfortunate illnesses, we were down ⅓ of our swimmers this weekend. The swimmers who attended our meet with Springdale gave their all and achieved some new personal best times, but unfortunately, we were outnumbered. The final score was 236 SPD - 164 HH.

As always, we greatly appreciate all our volunteers stepping up and filling in to support the team. It takes many hands for meets to run smoothly! So thank you! This Saturday is our final dual meet of the season and it’s a home meet. Let's show up strong, swim fast, and have fun!

WEEK AHEAD

Pep Rally

We’ll have our final pep rally on Friday, July 17th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Let’s get hype for our home meet against Woodbridge Valley. Treats will be provided for athletes but feel free to bring dinner and enjoy it at the pool.

Home Meet Set Up

This Friday, July 17th from 7:00 - 8:00pm is the meet set up for those volunteers who signed up for this role. Please be on time!

Home Meet on Saturday July 18th against Woodbridge Valley

• Declare meet participation on SwimTopia by Wednesday 7/15 (you must select attending or not attending).
• Arrive by 7:45am and have swimmers ready for warm ups promptly at 8:00am.
• Parking will be like our last home meet. We are reserving most of the main pool parking lot for our guests. All member families should park along Nottingham Rd but not in the yards of any residents and do not block the roadway.
• Volunteer slots are still open for the Announcer and 2nd half scoring table. Get those service points in - sign up!

REMINDERS & UPCOMING EVENTS

Volunteer Service Points

Reminders have been sent out to those families who have less than the required 5 service points. For clarification, service points are issued for volunteer roles and hospitality points are issued for bringing in supplies, food, or materials. If your swimmer attends an invitational meet or Divisionals, you must complete a volunteer shift - but invitational meet roles do not count towards the 5 service points.

Those families who have exceeded their service points requirement have been removed from numerous slots to open up opportunities for those still needing points. We are glad to see that this is working for many of you and your point statues are improving. There are still many volunteer slots available between our final meet and the Awards Banquet. Only volunteer slots in SwimTopia count towards your service points. We do not want to charge end of season shortfall fees per the volunteer requirements. If you need points and don’t see any available slots, email [email protected] ASAP. Not seeing any open slots is not an excuse for end of season shortfalls.

Straehle Invitational Meet

This is a full-day meet held on Wednesday, July 22nd at Padonia Swim Club in Cockeysville, MD. Swimmers must achieve a qualifying time by July 18th (our final dual meet) to attend. Individual event qualifiers will swim in the morning starting at 9:00am and relay swimmers will arrive later, with relays starting no earlier than 12:00pm. More details will be provided.

Divisionals at Five Oaks

On Saturday, July 25th we will have the Divisional Championship at Five Oaks Swim Club. This is the final meet of the season with swimmers competing against the best swimmers from all the Division VI teams. This is an invitational meet with attendance determined by coaching staff. Each team is limited to 3 swimmers in each event, in each age group and one relay team for each age group. More information will be sent as we get closer to this meet but please save the date.

Awards Potluck Banquet

On Sunday, July 26th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm we will enjoy good food, celebrate our team's accomplishments, and distribute awards from invitational meets. You won’t want to miss this night. Volunteer and potluck slots are open for sign up! Volunteering at the banquet counts towards your family’s service points.
